The Baltimore Experience
About

Who's behind the curtain

The Baltimore Experience is a home for creative ways to explore Baltimore City, and a showcase for the people who make them. Some of it you can do tonight with a phone and comfortable shoes. Some of it we build to order.

The creator

Vince Wilson leaning on the raven headstone at Poe's original burial place

Vince Wilson

Vince Wilson is a Baltimore magician, mentalist, author and entertainment producer, and he has been working in magic and the paranormal for 28 years. He performs bizarre magic, mentalism, séances, paranormal storytelling and sideshow, and has taken them to Europe, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Orlando and Chicago.

In 2019 he opened Poe's Magic Theatre in the Lord Baltimore Hotel, to bring magic back downtown and give the city a place of wonder. He runs Poe's Magic Club, hosts the annual Poe's Magic Conference, produced the original Poe Grave Ghost Tours and the Lord Baltimore Hotel Ghost Tours, and served on the board of the Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum. He also leads SpellCast Theatre, which designs immersive evenings, guest apps and GPS story walks.

He writes fiction and nonfiction for The History Press, and Baltimore is his hometown. The city has been through a lot, unfairly more often than not. This is his way of showing it off properly.

How a project usually goes

The place

We start with a real building, street or neighborhood, and dig until we find the story that never quite left it.

The shape

A walk, a séance, a show, an app, or some unholy combination. We pick what suits your guests and your budget.

The night

We write it, build it, cast it and run it, or hand you something your own staff can run long after we've gone.
